Police Service Commission promotes 988 officers, reinstates dismissed officer

On 16 March, the Police Service Commission (PSC) approved the promotion of 988 officers of the Nigeria Police Force.
In a statement in Abuja, the Commission’s Chief Information Officer, Mr. Ferdinand Ekpe, said the officers affected comprised 122 Deputy Superintendents who were elevated to Superintendents and 865 Assistant Superintendents who have been lifted to the rank of Deputy Superintendents. He said the Commission also approved the promotion of Assistant Commissioner of Police Alhaji Ghazalli Mohammed to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police.
The statement said the Commission also ordered the reinstatement of ex-Deputy Superintendent Bolaji Fafowora, who was dismissed from the Service 14 years ago.
The statement added that the actions of the Commission were in line with Section 153 (i) and (m) of the 1999 Constitution and the Police Service Commission Establishment Act.
