On election day: Another 3 bomb blasts in Maiduguri, Borno State

On 26 April, just as residents were getting set for the governorship and State House of Assembly elections, another string of bomb blasts occurred at three different locations in Maiduguri, Borno State.

Details are still being pieced together, but local sources say the explosions occurred at about 6 am, in London Ciki, Baga Road and Jejeri Ward of the metropolis.

For now, there is very little information on the casualties or impacts of the blasts. But locals say  the bomb thrown in Jejeri landed and exploded in a grave yard. They also say it did not kill or injure anybody.

This is the third consecutive day for which bombs are exploding in Maiduguri. On 24 April (Easter Sunday evening),  3 bomb blasts occurred at Tudu in Maduganari ward, killing three people and seriously injuring 14 others, and also at Tashan Kano Motorpark. As with previous incidents, the extremist Islamist group, Boko Haram, is suspected to be the brain behind the most recent blasts.
